The County Engineers office is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and construction of all secondary roads in Decatur County Iowa. It is also responsible for snow removal in the winter months.
It is funded primarily from the Road Use Fund which is collected at the fuel pump and from vehicle registrations; a small portion of the budget is funded from property taxes. Other state and federal funds, such as the Farm-to-Market Fund, pay for large projects constructed by contractors, but may not be used for local labor and equipment.
If you have questions, concerns, or need to report a road issue please contact the Engineer's Office directly so it may be properly entered into our work order system.
If you have a true road emergency please call 911.
***THERE ARE NEW RULES FOR R.O.W. ENTRANCES, PLEASE SEE THE NEW PERMIT APPLICATION FOR DETAILS AND FEES.***
Please do not enter road construction sites. If the road is closed please do not drive around barricades. You will not be able to pass through, and you are putting yourself at risk of serious injury.
If you have questions about any projects or maintenance activities please contact the Engineer's Office at the number listed to the right.
